(Phnom Penh): Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra announced that all 25 municipal and provincial Departments of Information will receive dedicated websites as part of a nationwide digital transformation initiative aimed at improving information management, public communication, and data connectivity across Cambodia.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a two-day training session on “Website Usage and Protection” on Tuesday (May 19), the minister said the new platforms will allow each department to securely store documents, information, and official data while contributing to a unified national digital data system.
The training, held at the Training and Professional Development Centre for Journalism and Audiovisual Media at the Ministry of Information, brought together 112 officials from the ministry and municipal and provincial information departments.
Minister Neth Pheaktra said the initiative serves as a key step toward modernising Cambodia’s official media system through digital technology, making communication faster, more effective, and more accessible.
He said the websites will serve as official platforms for publishing news, announcements, departmental activities, and public services in a timely and wide-reaching manner.
On the occasion, the minister also underlined the importance of strong and secure digital platforms, noting that the websites will function as official information repositories while ensuring data security and easy public access.
According to the minister, the project forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Information to modernise national and subnational information systems in line with the government’s digital policy reforms and evolving technological trends. He added that the reforms aim to strengthen public service delivery and enhance public trust through faster and more reliable access to information.
